Saquon Barkley drafted by Giants at #2

Saquon Barkley drafted by Giants at #2

Saquon is a Giant! No, really, the NY Giants used their #2 position in the NFL Draft to put Barkley in the backfield with Eli Manning. Dave Gettleman wasted no time making his choice known after the Cleveland Browns selected Baker Mayfield #1.

Barkley’s journey began in the Bronx where hr=e was born, then traversed through Coplay, PA, State College, PA, and then back home to NY.  There was some thought that the Browns would select the Penn State star as the overall #1 pick of the draft, but that went by the boards with their choice of Mayfield.  It took the Giants less than 5 minutes to make their choice, most likely the length of time to write Saquon’s name on the ballot and complete a short victory dance.  Giant fans erupted in cheers at the announcement as they celebrated getting the best player available in the draft, and the player most likely to score a touchdown every time he gets the ball.  Barkley and his girlfriend, Anna Congdon, celebrated the birth of their daughter, Jada Clare, and then began putting away funds for her college education!  Gettleman gushed with joy about his draft choice:”This kid makes our quarterback better, he makes our wide receivers better, he makes our O-line better, he makes our defense better,” Gettleman said. “Because we will have a much stronger ability to hold the ball. He’s a great kid. He’s gonna be great for our culture. And he is the unanimous best player in the draft. So we’re thrilled.”  The truth be known, the NY Giants are in for a treat.  Penn State fans know what Sundays in The Meadowlands will look like.  We were graced with Saquon Barkley’s wonderful football talents for the past 3 years, and we were further blessed with his personality and greatness as a human being.  Now, Saquon is on a bigger stage and we wish him well.  We are…proud and happy for Saquon and family.
