This year our Annual Dinner will feature as speaker Tina Hay, who is the editor of the Penn Stater magazine that is put out quarterly to all Alumni Members.   Tina is  in charge of the alumni magazine for the 174,000 members of the Penn State Alumni Association. Oversee a staff of seven and annual budget of more than $750,000.  Interestingly, she has guided the magazine to more than 200 national awards, including the 2007 Sibley Award as the nation’s best alumni magazine.

The Penn Stater is the primary benefit of membership in the Penn State Alumni Association, which — at 136,000 members — is the nation’s largest alumni association. In addition to serving as editor of the magazine, Hay oversees other Alumni Association publications as well as the content of the Alumni Association’s World Wide Web site.

Hay has also been known as the voice of Penn State women’s basketball, having been public address announcer for the Lady Lions’ home games for years. In addition, she is coordinator of the Folk Show on WPSU, Penn State’s regional public radio station, from which she received the 1994 Volunteer Award.

Tina began her professional career as director of news operations for Eastern Broadcasting Corporation in State College, then continued part-time as sports director while pursuing a degree as a returning adult student at Penn State. She graduated with highest distinction and with honors in management in 1983. She participated in the University Scholars Program, and her senior honors thesis on the National Coal Policy Project resulted in three articles in scholarly journals.
When we reached out for a speaker this year. Tina was at the top of our list because of her wealth of Knowledge and her access to more than a quarter century of Penn State news and events.  Like our previous speakers Lou Prado and Jay Paterno, Tina spanned an era of Nittany Lion experiences that included the highest and lowest points. Her handling of the scandal surrounding the Sandusky revelations in the January/February 2012 edition has been cited for its boldness and honesty and for the depth of its reporting.

As our membership grows, our Board is proud present Tina as our annual  dinner speaker experience to our area
